Microsoft has integrated an AI-powered assistant into the Windows 11 “Settings” app. With this new AI agent, users can easily change their computer settings by issuing natural language commands. For example, users can ask, “How do I connect to my Wi-Fi network?” or “Increase the screen brightness” either by voice or text, and receive responses. Additionally, the assistant offers suggestions and explanations about system settings and statuses, making the user experience more intuitive.
The new AI features make managing privacy settings easier and more effective. The AI agent analyzes which apps are accessing which data and provides personalized recommendations. For instance, it can alert users with messages like, “This app is constantly using your microphone. Would you like to turn it off?” prioritizing user security.
These features are primarily available on next-generation PCs equipped with Snapdragon X Elite processors. Thanks to the built-in NPU (Neural Processing Unit) in these devices, AI tasks can run faster and be processed on-device. This allows the AI assistant to stay active even without an internet connection.
Microsoft is determined to make Windows 11 a fully AI-native operating system. This significant move is aimed at competing with Apple’s Siri and Google’s Gemini-powered Android experience. Designed especially for enterprise and hybrid workers, this AI agent improves productivity while offering enhanced control and security.
